Alex-Romanov

Alex Romanov is best known as the Chief Technology Officer and one of the original technical architects behind Beam, the privacy-focused cryptocurrency built on the MimbleWimble protocol. He joined the project early in its creation and led the entire technical development—from designing the core blockchain architecture to building Beam’s wallets, node software, and mining infrastructure. Romanov has often stated that Beam was the first cryptocurrency he ever owned, and the project began for him after being introduced to the potential of privacy-preserving blockchain systems.

Under his leadership, Beam developed into a fully-fledged privacy ecosystem focused on confidentiality, scalability, and usability, launching its mainnet in January 2019. Romanov has been a frequent public spokesperson for Beam’s roadmap, including confidential assets and smart-contract capabilities. Though usually described as Beam’s CTO, several sources refer to him as a co-founder due to his foundational role in building the protocol from scratch.
