Bhagaban Behera is the co-founder and CEO of Walrus, a neobanking startup launched in 2019 to help young Indians (ages 13–24) learn financial management through hands-on experience. Based in Bengaluru, Walrus offers tools like a UPI ID, debit card, and spending analytics tailored to Gen Z. Behera was inspired by his own financial journey—from working at Barclays to navigating life as a cash-strapped entrepreneur—and believes financial literacy should start early.
Under his leadership, Walrus raised funding from Better Capital and prominent angel investors. The platform focuses on product-led learning and community engagement rather than traditional financial education, aiming to make money “cool” and accessible for young users.
