Rune Christensen is the co-founder and CEO of MakerDAO, the decentralized organization behind the DAI stablecoin. With a background in biochemistry and international business, he launched MakerDAO in 2014 to create a stable, transparent, and decentralized alternative to traditional financial systems. His early vision centered on building DAI, a crypto-collateralized stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar, enabling users to borrow and lend in a trustless manner.

Under Christensen’s leadership, MakerDAO became one of the first and most influential DeFi protocols, pioneering decentralized governance through its MKR token holders. He continues to drive innovation with initiatives like the Endgame Plan, aimed at restructuring MakerDAO for greater resilience, scalability, and long-term decentralization within the evolving Web3 ecosystem.
