20th September – The Algorand Foundation has announced the launch of Algoland, a 13-week gamified campaign designed to increase awareness, retail participation, and engagement across the Algorand blockchain ecosystem. The campaign officially begins on September 22, 2025.
The Algoland campaign transforms the existing Algorand ecosystem into a metaphorical “destination,” encouraging users to explore various decentralized applications (dApps), DeFi tools, and real-world integrations. Participation and rewards are tracked entirely on-chain, using Algorand’s native Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to ensure transparency and fairness.
The initiative is not a new blockchain or protocol fork. Rather, it repackages existing infrastructure to improve discoverability and encourage sustained usage.

In an interview given to crypto.news, Marc Vanlerberghe, Head of Strategy and Marketing at Algorand, shared details about a new 13-week on-chain rewards campaign. The goal is simple: bring in experienced Web3 users and highlight what Algorand can do. Unlike other chains, Algorand avoids basic payouts. “We’re avoiding ‘do this transaction and get $5’ mechanics,” Vanlerberghe explained. “Those just attract farmers who move on once the rewards dry up.”
Instead, users earn points through a gamified system. These points, stored entirely on-chain, may lead to prizes. Even referrals and winner selection happen on-chain. “Our consensus uses a verifiable random function,” he said. “It’s lightweight, decentralized, and secure.”
Accessibility is another key point. “I run [a node] on a mini-PC. Anyone can do it,” Vanlerberghe noted. “That’s the ultimate proof of decentralization.”
He also stressed user experience. Transactions on Algorand are fast and reliable. “They finalize in under three seconds. They never fail, never roll back,” he said. This creates a smooth, Web2-like feel.
So why isn’t Algorand more visible? Vanlerberghe pointed to the company’s approach. “We never played the hype game,” he said. Instead, Algorand focused on building strong tech and attracting real users. Now, with this campaign, it plans to communicate more clearly and close the perception gap.
