BitcoinOS has officially launched its Grail bridge on the Cardano network, a development set to open new capital pathways by allowing Bitcoin to flow into Cardano’s ecosystem. The bridge promises to enable both BTC liquidity for Cardano’s decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and the movement of ADA tokens to the Bitcoin network. EMURGO, one of Cardano’s founding entities, is among the ecosystem participants developing tools to support these cross-network integrations.
The Grail bridge leverages security structures developed by BitcoinOS, which claims it was the first protocol to introduce verified zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs on Bitcoin as of April. ZK proof technology allows transactions to be validated without revealing specific information, reinforcing security as assets flow between Cardano and Bitcoin.
Cross-chain bridges such as Grail are essential for enabling the transfer of digital assets between blockchains where they aren’t natively supported. By connecting networks like Bitcoin and Cardano, Grail may support new avenues for DeFi on Cardano, leveraging Bitcoin’s liquidity and user base.
EMURGO, the Cardano founding entity, is actively involved in building infrastructure to encourage BTC inflows to Cardano and facilitate ADA’s entry into Bitcoin’s ecosystem. The entity plans to develop tools that enhance the appeal of Cardano’s DeFi offerings to Bitcoin users, promoting broader adoption.
