October 31, 2025 – Bittensor has unveiled Subnet 48, officially connecting real Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) to its blockchain ecosystem. The move, powered by OpenQuantum.com’s private beta, brings quantum resources to developers worldwide — no labs, no gatekeepers, and no intermediaries. With the launch, quantum jobs now run directly through Bittensor’s validators and miners, routing computations to quantum hardware providers like Rigetti, IonQ, and IQM. The achievement signals a pivotal expansion of DeAI (Decentralized AI) capabilities, pushing the boundaries of open-source machine intelligence and cryptographic research. The integration has already stirred market momentum — TAO, Bittensor’s native token, rebounded sharply in recent weeks, reflecting renewed investor confidence in its modular, subnet-driven model.
The OpenQuantum.com private beta marks the first truly permissionless quantum access layer. Anyone can register, submit circuits, and execute them on live hardware across multiple QPU providers — all orchestrated by Bittensor’s Subnet 48 infrastructure.

Pre-approved participants can deploy workloads directly through the web interface or the Python SDK, which allows integration into Jupyter notebooks, custom scripts, and DeAI pipelines. The system intelligently allocates workloads between validators and quantum nodes, optimizing compute flow in real time.
Bittensor’s incentive design ensures sustainability. Ninety percent of miner emissions are burned automatically, while the remainder compensates QPU operators and node contributors. The emission burn aligns with TAO’s long-term deflationary model, creating a balance between access, reward, and scarcity.
“Quantum is no longer locked behind closed research doors,” said a Bittensor representative. “With Subnet 48, we’re giving developers everywhere the power to experiment, compute, and innovate at quantum scale.”
Bittensor’s design thrives on collaboration. Subnet 48 extends that philosophy to quantum computing, merging probabilistic processing with the neuron-based DeAI economy. Validators now score quantum job results based on accuracy, efficiency, and impact — turning quantum outcomes into measurable economic value.
Practical use cases are vast:
Even in early testing, quantum integrations have reduced compute times by over 30% for complex circuit tasks. As miners enhance fault-tolerance and validators expand hybrid workflows, quantum-AI co-processing could become a defining capability of the Bittensor network.
Community developers on the qBitty forum have been instrumental in shaping this rollout, providing real-time feedback and testing circuit throughput, ensuring Subnet 48 scales for public release.
Bittensor’s modular subnet system remains its competitive edge. With over 100 active subnets — including SN1 (Text Prompting), SN19 (Image Generation), and SN25 (Folding) — the addition of Subnet 48 (Quantum Computing) cements TAO as the backbone of the decentralized AI economy.
Each subnet functions as a specialized market: miners provide computational commodities, validators score results, and rewards flow toward top contributors. Quantum is now part of that loop, creating hybrid AI models that can think probabilistically and learn collaboratively.
To put this milestone in context, here’s a look at how Subnet 48 compares to previous Bittensor subnets:
