Camino Network Hosts Successful Web3 Hackathon with Lufthansa and SWISS

This hackathon marked a significant collaboration between the world’s first EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain tailored for the travel sector and major players in the airline industry.

• Unimoni Team’s Proposal: Integrating 300,000 non-IATA travel agencies in India into the Camino Network, supporting local payment methods and providing direct access to Lufthansa flight content.
• SWISS and Digital Hangar Team: A concept for enhancing Travel-ID with Web3 wallet integration, enabling the issuance, exchange, and management of digital identities, vouchers, and digital services.
• Hotelplan Team’s Solution: A group booking system allowing travelers from different locations to book together while paying individually for their shared destination.
• Carbify: Named the “Winner of the Hearts,” this team presented a CO₂ offsetting solution, offering full traceability of compensation activities, including the exact geolocation of trees planted for carbon reduction.

Impact of the Hackathon and Next Steps

The Web3 hackathon demonstrated the transformative potential of blockchain and AI in the travel sector. Lufthansa Group is currently evaluating the most promising projects from the hackathon to determine which ones could be developed into pilot applications. The results underline how B2B partnerships in the travel industry can be streamlined, reducing distribution costs and IT-related carbon emissions, ultimately speeding up time-to-market for new solutions.
