Celestia successfully processes 100 GiB of daily load on mainnet, proving modular blockchain scalability after its Matcha upgrade.
Author: Chirag Sharma
December 23, 2025 – Celestia, the modular blockchain purpose-built for data availability (DA), has successfully completed one of the most demanding real-world stress tests ever run on a live blockchain mainnet. Over four consecutive days, the network processed close to 100 GiB of daily load. This is while maintaining stability and an exceptional 99.97 percent blob inclusion rate across a seven-day testing window.
An unnamed team conducted the celestia daily load test preparing for a high-throughput mainnet launch in 2026. The results validate Celestia’s recent upgrades and reinforce its position. It has become scalable, production-ready backbone for next-generation onchain applications that demand massive data throughput.

The sustained surge in activity was not a synthetic benchmark. A live mainnet load test initiated by a development team building a data-intensive application. The goal was to simulate future production demand of approximately 1.3 MB per second. It is a level of throughput associated with large rollup ecosystems, onchain games, and high-frequency financial infrastructure.
For four straight days, Celestia absorbed peak data postings near 100 GiB daily without network interruptions, stalled blocks, or cascading congestion. Moreover, In modular architectures, this type of sustained load is far more revealing than short stress spikes. It tests propagation, mempool behavior, and long-term validator performance under real economic conditions.

@celestia Numbers like these make "modular" feel underpriced 😏

@celestia Solid throughput, nice.

The outcome demonstrates that Celestia can handle continuous, industrial-scale demand rather than brief bursts of activity. Hence, this is a critical requirement for rollups planning permanent production deployments.
Matcha Upgrade is a key reason for this benchmark. It went live on Celestia mainnet in late November 2025. Matcha dramatically expanded the network’s throughput ceiling by increasing maximum block size from 8 MB to 128 MB and introducing more efficient peer-to-peer data propagation mechanisms.
These improvements optimized how blob data is streamed, prioritized, and verified across the network. Faster block times, better mempool coordination, and parallelized data handling ensured that blob transactions were included reliably even during peak load.
As a result, Celestia now operates as a high-bandwidth DA layer capable of supporting multiple large rollups simultaneously. This architecture allows execution environments to scale independently, while Celestia focuses purely on making data available, verifiable, and decentralized.
Celestia daily load achieved a 99.97 percent blob inclusion success rate across the full seven-day testing period.This means nearly every submitted data blob was successfully posted and made available for sampling by light nodes.
For rollups, this metric is mission-critical. Missing or delayed data availability can halt sequencers, break fraud proofs, or disrupt user experience. The test demonstrated that even under extreme conditions, Celestia’s post-Matcha optimizations prevented congestion and ensured consistent inclusion.
The network’s ability to maintain reliability under sustained pressure reinforces confidence among developers building systems that depend on uninterrupted data guarantees.
Celestia contributors described the testing team as one that deliberately “pushed the boundaries of performance,” and confirmed that the application plans to deploy publicly in 2026. We can expect projects with similar throughput requirement to follow this lead
This successful load test serves as real-world validation of Celestia’s modular roadmap, which targets even larger block sizes and future gigabyte-per-second throughput. This could also have a positive impact on the $TIA price action

With Matcha already live and further upgrades in development, Celestia is increasingly positioning itself as core infrastructure for high-throughput Web3 ecosystems, from DeFi rollups to gaming and data-heavy decentralized applications.
