December 4, 2025 – Crust Network has integrated its Crust Files service into the Base app, marking a notable step for decentralized storage adoption across Web3. Announced on January 4, 2026, the integration enables Base users to upload, manage, and secure files directly within the app using Crust’s blockchain-based infrastructure. As a result, users gain on-chain data permanence and ownership without relying on centralized cloud providers.
The collaboration aligns with Base’s broader effort to enhance everyday Web3 experiences across social, trading, and discovery features. Crust, a Substrate-based layer-1 network, focuses on IPFS-compatible storage with strong redundancy and privacy guarantees, positioning the integration as a practical bridge between user-friendly apps and decentralized infrastructure.
