A shooter targeted former U.S. President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. While he spoke, gunfire erupted, prompting Secret Service agents to rush him off the stage. Blood appeared on Trump’s head and ear after the shots were fired, just minutes into his rally on Saturday.
Following the incident, Trump’s chances of winning the November presidential election rose sharply in prediction markets. Currently, the odds on Polymarket have surged to 68%.
Reports confirm that the shooter and at least one attendee died following the gunfire at Trump’s rally. Many people expressed support for Trump on social media and even called him a “crypto president“.
Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy wrote: “I just landed and missed an assassination attempt. Holy shit. What a badass reaction from Trump. The election is over. He’s the next president. The Dems should give up. They can’t beat him now.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk added:
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
