July 28, 2025, Injective Labs announced the successful internal testing of its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) mainnet. This upgrade enables Ethereum developers to build smart contracts using Solidity directly on Injectiveās lightning-fast layer-1 blockchain. Unlike rollups or sidechains, Injectiveās EVM is built natively into the protocol, giving developers speed and flexibility without relying on bridges.
The tests revealed impressive performanceāhandling ~800 lightweight transactions per second (TPS) and ~320 heavier ones. These metrics position Injective as a serious competitor among EVM-compatible chains in terms of both throughput and cost efficiency. Moreover, Injective already provides sub-second finality and near-zero gas fees, making it attractive for DeFi builders seeking scale.
Injectiveās standout feature lies in its MultiVM design, which integrates both EVM and WebAssembly (WASM) smart contract environments. This enables seamless communication between different contract typesāwithout the need for bridges or converters. Developers can now deploy complex dApps that tap into features of both ecosystems, reducing fragmentation.
In addition, Injective supports on-chain order books, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, and advanced DeFi primitives. Its interoperability layer is powered by Hyperlane and LayerZero, which makes data and asset transfer possible across Ethereum, Cosmos, and Solana. This removes the silos of todayās fragmented DeFi infrastructure.
Though the exact timeline for the public EVM mainnet release hasnāt been confirmed, the momentum is building. Recent governance proposals passed by the Injective community point toward a permissionless future, inviting developers and users to engage without barriers. This move could catalyze broader adoption and further decentralize Injectiveās ecosystem.
Injectiveās strategic partnerships with Google Cloud and Deutsche Telekom bring credibility and technical resilience to the table. As DeFi continues to evolve, Injectiveās native EVM is likely to attract a new wave of multichain developers. If the public mainnet replicates internal performance, Injective may set the standard for future interoperable DeFi platforms.
