28th December 2025 – Injective has integrated the x402 standard, enabling direct, on-chain payments through standard HTTP protocols. The announcement, made on December 26, positions Injective as one of the first Layer 1 blockchains to support this breakthrough in real-time, web-native financial transactions.
The x402 protocol allows servers to include payment instructions within the HTTP 402 (Payment Required) response. When a user or AI agent requests access to an API or service, the server can respond with payment terms. Once the payment is completed on-chain, the requested content becomes accessible.
