MetaMask, one of the most widely used Ethereum wallets, has officially integrated Solana into its browser extension. The move allows users to manage both Ethereum and Solana assets in a single interface—a notable shift for a product long seen as Ethereum-centric.
With the update, users can now send, receive, swap, and bridge tokens across Ethereum and Solana without switching wallets. Solana-based decentralized applications (dApps) are also accessible directly through the MetaMask browser extension.
The integration simplifies the multichain experience. Instead of juggling multiple wallets like Phantom or Solflare for Solana and MetaMask for Ethereum, users can now operate both ecosystems from one place. The update reflects a growing demand for streamlined asset management as blockchain use becomes more diverse.
MetaMask confirmed that Solana support will arrive soon on its mobile app. This will extend the same functionality—transfers, dApps, swaps—to mobile users on both iOS and Android. The timeline for this rollout hasn’t been specified, but it aligns with MetaMask’s ongoing efforts to expand cross-chain compatibility.
Solana, known for its fast transactions and low fees, is currently the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Adding support for it signals MetaMask’s intent to evolve into a comprehensive multichain wallet, keeping pace with user needs and blockchain innovation.
The new version (v12.18) of MetaMask includes enhanced features for Solana, such as secure account creation, bridging, and protection against malicious dApps. Users can either create a new Solana account or import an existing one into the extension.
MetaMask has hinted that Bitcoin support is also on the roadmap, though no date has been confirmed. As more chains become integral to the Web3 ecosystem, wallet providers are under increasing pressure to offer unified solutions.
