After the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France on 24th August, betting site Polymarket has had a prediction of “Pavel Durov released in August?” live. At the time of writing, the markets do not seem favourable for Pavel with only 36% people betting on an August release.
There were some reports (now deleted) by French prosecutors on LinkedIn claiming that Pavel could be released by Wednesday but the chances of that look lesser by the hour.
Prosecutors stated that Durov has not been formally charged yet. He is currently detained as part of an investigation linked to crimes allegedly orchestrated or communicated through Telegram, including money laundering, drug trafficking, child pornography, and failure to cooperate with law enforcement.
Betters on Polymarket have given Pavel a much bigger chance of getting out by October, with the market betting on 72% yes.
