25th December 2025 – The Quai Network team has released its new CLI wallet, expanding the suite of tools available to its users and miners. This terminal-based wallet was launched in response to growing requests from new network participants looking for a fast, minimal way to manage their assets.
The Quai CLI wallet supports hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallets, following the BIP44 standard with coinType 994. It allows users to generate and manage addresses across all Quai zones, including Cyprus, Paxos, and Hydra.
Each wallet encrypts the recovery phrase using strong AES-256-GCM encryption, derived through PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations. Private keys are never stored. Instead, they are derived at runtime to improve security. Wallet data is saved locally with strict file permissions, minimizing risk in case of compromise.
The wallet displays real-time balances across all associated addresses. This includes available, locked (e.g., coinbase), and total tokens. Users can also track individual addresses or get a total wallet overview, which is especially useful for miners managing multiple wallets across different zones.
The CLI supports sending and signing transactions, as well as estimating gas fees. It also works with both the Quai mainnet and the Orchard testnet, ensuring compatibility across environments.
The release follows a string of recent updates from Quai. The network activated its mainnet transaction layer earlier this year. It also launched SOAP, a token and infrastructure feature that enables buybacks and merge mining.
The new CLI wallet complements existing options like Pelagus (browser extension), Koala (mobile app), and Tangem (hardware wallet integration). However, it offers a leaner interface targeted at power users, developers, and miners who prefer a terminal-based experience.
The wallet is built using TypeScript and the quais.js SDK (version 1.0.0-alpha.52). While the SDK allows developers to programmatically interact with Quai wallets, the CLI version wraps that functionality into an accessible package for end users.
The project is fully open-source and released under the MIT license. Quai’s development team has positioned the tool as a foundation for more advanced user workflows while keeping user control and transparency at the center.
With this launch, Quai continues to fill out its ecosystem. The CLI wallet adds to its growing infrastructure and supports its long-term push to onboard both technical users and mainstream participants. As transaction volume builds on mainnet, the demand for secure and fast wallet access is likely to increase, especially from miners seeking tight control of their funds.
Real voices. Real reactions.
@QuaiNetwork Yup, there was a surge of requests for this. Thanks team for keeping your ears to the ground and delivering.
@QuaiNetwork hell yeah, should be useful for miners for sure.
@QuaiNetwork IDK of any that keeps shipping awesome product after awesome product except QUAI
