Render Network has announced the launch of two key proposals, RNP-017 and RNP-018, aimed at enhancing the network’s functionality and supporting its growing community.
RNP-017: OctaneRender for Blender Integration
RNP-017 introduces OctaneRender for Blender into the Render Network, expanding upon the Blender Cycles integration introduced in RNP-014. This new feature allows Blender users to leverage Octane’s GPU-accelerated rendering capabilities via Render’s distributed infrastructure.
Key Benefits of RNP-017
- Access to advanced GPU rendering for faster, higher-quality results.
- Support for physically accurate materials and lighting.
- Improved real-time viewport performance to streamline workflows.
- Enhanced connection between Blender and the Render Network.
The purpose of RNP-017 is to equip Blender artists with industry-leading rendering tools, ensuring creative freedom and technical excellence.
Implementation Plan
The proposal outlines two potential paths for integration:
- Blender Octane Edition: A pre-configured Blender build with OctaneRender.
- OctaneBlender Addon: A lightweight plugin for standard Blender.
The final implementation will be decided after beta testing to ensure stability and performance.
Beneficiaries
- Artists: Gain access to cutting-edge rendering tools.
- Render Network Developers: Build upon existing integrations to improve workflows.
- OTOY Team: Aligns Octane with Blender and Render ecosystems.
This integration reaffirms the Render Network’s mission to provide access to the best creative tools while giving artists the flexibility to choose what works best for their projects.
RNP-018: Year 2 Emissions Budget for Burn-Mint Equilibrium
RNP-018 focuses on emissions allocations for the second year of the Burn-Mint Equilibrium (BME), an economic mechanism introduced in RNP-001. The proposal builds on the success of Year 1 to further the growth and sustainability of the Render Network.
Achievements from Year 1
- 93 artist grants funded.
- 1.14 million RENDER rewards distributed.
- 355 million tokens upgraded to Solana.
- Triple the on-chain network usage.
Year 2 Emissions Budget
The total emissions for Year 2 are proposed at 5.9 million RENDER, allocated as follows:
- 25% (1.5M RENDER): Node rewards to support network growth and product releases.
- 25% (1.5M RENDER): Artist and AI client rewards, an increase from 0.54 million in 2024.
- 50% (2.9M RENDER): Community initiatives, research and development, operations, and overall growth.
Beneficiaries of RNP-018
- Node Operators: Ensure stable rewards and network availability.
- Artists and AI Clients: Boost creative opportunities with increased incentives.
- Community Members: Funding to support future growth initiatives and innovations.
Implementation and Monitoring
Once approved, Year 2 emissions will begin immediately. Allocations will be reviewed quarterly to ensure alignment with community needs, and adjustments will be made as necessary to address new challenges or opportunities.
Looking Ahead
RNP-017 and RNP-018 are pivotal to the Render Network’s continued growth and innovation. These proposals set the stage for expanding capabilities, supporting its community, and ensuring the network’s long-term sustainability. Discussions for Year 3 emissions and development will begin in 2025, with input from the Render Network community shaping the future.
