Robinhood Chain testnet launches on Ethereum L2, enabling tokenized stocks, RWAs, and 24/7 onchain trading ahead of a planned 2026 mainnet.
Author: Kritika Gupta
11th February 2026– Robinhood has launched the public testnet for Robinhood Chain, a financial-grade Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain built using Arbitrum technology. The network targets tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), including equities, ETFs, and other financial instruments, while supporting 24/7 trading, self-custody, seamless cross-chain bridging, and deeper DeFi integration.
With the testnet now live, developers can connect to the network, experiment with test assets such as synthetic stock tokens, and begin building applications using standard Ethereum tools. This phase comes ahead of a planned mainnet launch later in 2026. Overall, the launch represents a major step in Robinhood’s effort to merge traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure.

Robinhood’s decision to activate the Robinhood Chain testnet follows a multi-year strategy to expand beyond conventional brokerage services into full-stack onchain finance. The initiative builds on the June 2025 release of Robinhood Stock Tokens, which introduced tokenized versions of U.S. stocks and ETFs on Arbitrum for European users.
At the same time, Robinhood revealed plans for a proprietary Layer-2 blockchain optimized for RWAs. This move aligned with rising industry demand for tokenized assets that enable fractional ownership, continuous trading, and fewer intermediaries.
Notably, this marks the first time Robinhood has designed and launched its own blockchain infrastructure. Previously, the company relied on existing networks to support crypto trading, its self-custodial wallet, and tokenized products.
Following the June 2025 announcement, markets responded positively. Robinhood’s stock (HOOD) rose as much as 13 percent in a single session and reached record high. This reflects investor optimism around the company’s deeper crypto integration and exposure to the growing RWA market.

Oracle, RPC, and cross-chain providers integrate ahead of a standalone chain launch.
Robinhood Chain launches its public testnet, giving developers access to tools and test assets.
Following testnet validation, Robinhood targets a full mainnet rollout and potential app integration.
Robinhood Chain operates as an Arbitrum Orbit Layer-2 secured by Ethereum. It uses Ethereum blobs for data availability and relies on ETH as the native gas token. As a result, the network delivers high throughput, and fast finality while inheriting Ethereum’s base-layer security.
In addition, Robinhood designed the chain specifically for financial-grade use cases. These include programmatic trading of tokenized RWAs, 24/7 global market access, self-custody via the Robinhood Wallet.
For developers, the testnet offers full EVM compatibility along with familiar tooling, including RPC endpoints, a public block explorer, and a testnet faucet. Early infrastructure partners already integrating with the network include Chainlink for oracles. Alchemy for developer services, and LayerZero for cross-chain messaging.
The public testnet now allows builders to develop applications centered on tokenized assets, RWA-focused DeFi protocols, perpetual trading products, and hybrid TradFi-DeFi models. In parallel, Robinhood has indicated ecosystem support, including reports of a $1 million commitment to teams building on the chain.
Looking ahead, Robinhood plans to transition from testnet to mainnet later in 2026. At that stage, the company may integrate tokenized assets directly into the Robinhood app, potentially exposing millions of users to onchain financial products. If execution meets expectations, Robinhood Chain could accelerate mainstream adoption of tokenized equities and onchain finance.
