June 5, 2025 – Zano has rolled out a major upgrade to its Wrapped Zano (wZANO) bridge, introducing faster confirmation times, a redesigned website, and new integration with Zano Companion to enhance usability and access to the privacy-first cryptocurrency.
The update significantly reduces the number of confirmations required for token wrapping and unwrapping. Previously, users needed 50 confirmations to wrap ZANO to wZANO and 20 to unwrap. Now, both processes require just 10 confirmations, cutting wait times and streamlining the experience for cross-chain users.
Additionally, the Zano team has implemented a new mechanism for processing bridge transactions, which is expected to boost reliability and bridge stability, especially under higher loads.
Another key feature of the upgrade is support for Zano Companion, a tool that simplifies access to users’ Zano addresses and enhances overall interoperability. This integration is aimed at improving the bridge’s accessibility, especially for those less familiar with technical wallet operations.
The wrapped.zano.org website has also been completely redesigned with a cleaner, more user-friendly interface. The refreshed layout aims to make the wrapping process more intuitive for both new and existing users.
Wrapped Zano (wZANO) is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, backed 1:1 with native ZANO. It enables users to interact with Ethereum-based infrastructure such as decentralized exchanges like Uniswap, and multi-token wallets like Trust Wallet or hardware wallets.
wZANO is also seen as a potential compliance-friendly option for centralized exchanges that may face regulatory constraints in listing privacy-preserving assets like ZANO directly.
With these upgrades, Zano continues to bridge the gap between privacy-focused blockchain ecosystems and the broader DeFi world. By improving bridge efficiency and compatibility, the project opens up new opportunities for liquidity, accessibility, and adoption across Ethereum’s expansive user base.
