Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has stirred controversy once again, this time targeting Kaito, an AI-driven engagement platform, over allegedly inflated user metrics and questionable campaign mechanics.
The dispute began when Billions Network claimed it had onboarded over one million users through a partnership with Kaito. ZachXBT quickly challenged the figure in a post on X , sarcastically thanking them for “confirming to the community your user metrics are heavily inflated.”
While ZachXBT is known for meticulously detailed on-chain investigations, this attack was more informal driven by observation rather than hard evidence. Still, it didn’t stop him from drawing strong conclusions about Kaito’s role in the crypto ecosystem.
Launched earlier in 2025, Kaito enables crypto projects to reward users often with its Yap token, for engaging in discussions and generating social media content. While the concept gained initial praise for incentivizing community activity, it quickly drew criticism for encouraging AI-generated spam and fake engagement.
ZachXBT argued that Kaito campaigns now resemble modern multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes, incentivizing users to prioritize token farming over genuine contributions. “The worst part is, all of them group up and start calling projects scams just because the airdrops were inevitably worth nothing,” he said.
He further claimed these “Yap farmers” can damage a project’s reputation, especially new or under-resourced teams who rely on early social traction. “Kaito partnerships are the number one counter signal for a project,” he warned.
Notably, ZachXBT’s criticism didn’t include screenshots, transaction links, or blockchain analysis. Unlike his prior exposés that uncovered millions in fraud, the Kaito thread consisted mostly of personal frustration, subjective claims, and community commentary.
Still, the post gained traction online, with many in the crypto space echoing concerns over the quality of user engagement Kaito campaigns produce.
The Kaito team has not yet responded publicly to the accusations.
While the debate continues, one thing is clear: the reputational risk of aligning with questionable marketing tactics in crypto is rising. And ZachXBT, even when working off vibes instead of verifiable data, remains one of the most influential voices calling attention to it.
