Zama Public Auction Launch marks a major milestone for the privacy-focused cryptography company, offering 10% of the total $ZAMA supply through a sealed-bid Dutch auction on Ethereum. The sale uses Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), Zama’s flagship technology, to keep all bid values private while maintaining trustless verification on-chain.
This approach avoids common pitfalls such as last-second sniping or aggressive gas bidding, making the distribution fair for all participants. Zama announced the auction window as January 12–15, 2026, with token claims on January 20.
The auction launch is powered by FHE, enabling encrypted bidding that is only decrypted after auction finalization. For participants, this means no one including operators or competitors can see bid amounts before settlement. Once the auction ends, all winners can claim fully unlocked $ZAMA tokens.
The token fuels Zama Protocol, the confidentiality layer for L1/L2 networks where users pay FHE encryption fees, stake to operators, and secure FHE coprocessors. With mainnet approaching year-end, Zama aims to establish encrypted computation as a foundational Web3 primitive.
Participants submit sealed bids through the auction launch interface, remaining confidential until the Dutch pricing mechanism determines the clearing price. Bids above the final price win and are settled at the uniform clearing level. The design ensures equal opportunity regardless of wallet size and prevents bots or MEV actors from gaining advantages.
