Emin Gün Sirer is a Turkish-American computer scientist and a prominent figure in the blockchain and cryptocurrency sectors. He is best known for his groundbreaking work in developing the Avalanche Consensus protocol, which powers the Avalanche blockchain platform. As the CEO and co-founder of Ava Labs, Sirer has been instrumental in driving innovation within the blockchain industry, focusing on creating highly scalable, secure, and decentralized systems. Before venturing into the world of blockchain, Sirer was an associate professor of computer science at Cornell University, where he co-directed The Initiative for Cryptocurrencies and Smart Contracts (IC3).
