The Algorand Foundation has launched its Aid Trust Portal, a new tool that tracks and visualizes humanitarian aid payments on-chain. Built on the Algorand blockchain, the portal allows anyone to trace funds in and out of wallets in real time. It offers interactive graphs that show how assets move, wallet to wallet. As a result, it gives aid providers, donors, and regulators a new level of transparency.
Unlike generic block explorers, the Aid Trust Portal focuses specifically on humanitarian use cases. It shows the relationship between wallets and builds an auditable trail of every transaction. This changes how trust is built in fragile regions.
The portal is already in action. HesabPay, a digital wallet provider, has integrated it into its operations. Multiple UN agencies now use HesabPay to distribute aid in Afghanistan and Northeast Syria. These regions face complex challenges including poor infrastructure, corruption, and political instability. In such conditions, even small leaks in aid flow can cause massive harm.
With the new portal, aid groups can confirm that payments reach their intended recipients. If something goes wrong, the system shows exactly where.
“This is a breakthrough,” said Matt Keller, Director of Social Impact at the Algorand Foundation. “With this portal, we can prove that recipients get what was promised. If not, we can trace the issue right away.”
He also emphasized the scale. “Through HesabPay, we’ve already moved aid for multiple UN agencies. The Aid Trust Portal now makes those payments fully transparent, in real time.”
This isn’t just for reports. It could boost donor confidence. It could also increase the amount of aid delivered — simply because more people trust the system.
Sanzar Kakar, CEO of HesabPay, highlighted the human impact. “In places like Afghanistan, trust is everything. This tool gives people dignity. They don’t have to guess if help is coming – they can see it.”
Kakar stressed that the portal could also reduce fraud and waste. By tracking every step of aid delivery, the system protects both recipients and providers.
The Aid Trust Portal is live at aidtrust.io. Any Algorand-based asset with a public key can be visualized. The foundation is offering this tool free of charge to the aid sector. That’s a first. No other major blockchain has delivered this kind of analytics platform specifically for humanitarian use.
The launch also supports Algorand’s broader push into real-world blockchain applications. In 2024, the foundation helped form a Blockchain Council for Humanitarian Aid. That group now advises major NGOs and UN programs on how to use blockchain for good.
Algorand isn’t just building infrastructure. It’s building trust. With the Aid Trust Portal, it gives aid workers and donors a way to track every dollar. In conflict zones or crisis areas, that could mean faster delivery, less corruption, and saved lives.
