@Aster_DEX This comes far too late. Many investors have already lost their trust and confidence in the project due to the lack of timely action and transparency. Rebuilding that trust will take much more than a buyback announcement at this stage.

The decision to scale buybacks reflects a broader reassessment of token value capture across DeFi. Since its launch in September 2025, following the merger of Astherus and APX Finance, Aster has rapidly emerged as a leading perpetual DEX with multi-chain support and high-leverage products.
However, strong usage alone failed to shield $ASTER from market-wide corrections and dilution concerns tied to emissions and airdrops. Community feedback increasingly pushed for a shift toward continuous, mechanical support rather than discretionary interventions.
Aster’s leadership had already tested this path. During 2025, earlier buyback stages repurchased more than $140 million worth of $ASTER, burning half and recycling the remainder into incentives. Stage 5, announced in December, committed up to 80% of protocol fees to token support, with the Strategic Reserve designed to respond dynamically to market stress.
This approach mirrors trends set by rivals such as Hyperliquid, reinforcing the idea that sustainable DeFi tokens must translate revenue into consistent buy pressure. For Aster, accelerating buybacks was less optional defense and more structural necessity since the price is already lagging behind $HYPE
At a design level, buybacks prioritize sustainability over optics. Because repurchases scale with fee generation, the system naturally expands during periods of high activity and contracts when volumes slow, avoiding artificial price support.
This also strengthens incentive alignment. Traders indirectly fuel buy pressure through activity, while long-term holders benefit from reduced circulating supply. Unlike opaque treasury actions, every buyback is verifiable, reducing governance uncertainty.
In an environment of rising regulatory scrutiny, transparent buybacks may also prove more defensible than aggressive emissions or discretionary burns. In the short term, $ASTER is following the market trend and has dropped by 7% in the last 24 hrs.
