Blue Origin Now Accepts Bitcoin for Space Tourism Flights

August 11, 2025 – Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin has announced that customers can now pay for New Shepard suborbital flights using cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and stablecoins like USDT and USDC.

Through a partnership with Shift4, bookings can be made instantly via popular wallets such as Coinbase and MetaMask, enabling borderless transactions for high-value purchases without traditional banking hurdles.

Space Tourism Meets Blockchain Innovation

The New Shepard rocket offers 11-minute trips beyond the Kármán line (100 km altitude), giving passengers a few minutes of weightlessness and panoramic Earth views. Blue Origin has already flown over 75 passengers, and ticket prices — often in the millions — make crypto an ideal payment method for the global elite.

Shift4 CEO Taylor Lauber said the move extends their mission “beyond Earth,” positioning Blue Origin as a leader in integrating blockchain with commercial space travel.

Crypto Community Already Has a Presence in Space

The announcement follows the NS-34 mission on August 3–4, 2025, which featured Justin Sun, founder of TRON, as a passenger. Sun brought 1,000 TRON community postcards into space and pledged funds to 19 STEAM charities, underscoring the growing link between crypto wealth and space exploration.

Why It Matters for Crypto Adoption

Industry analysts see this as a vote of confidence in cryptocurrency’s real-world use. Space tourism is an emerging luxury market, and Blue Origin’s crypto payments could inspire competitors like SpaceX — whose founder Elon Musk has often promoted Dogecoin — to follow suit.
