July 17, 2025 : Canary Capital has filed for the first Staked Injective ($INJ) ETF in the U.S. with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This ETF not only tracks the price of Injectiveâs native token but also earns staking rewards by participating in its Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus.
Injective, a Layer-1 blockchain optimized for DeFi and Web3, has a market cap of $1.3B, placing it firmly in the top 100 crypto assets. With this ETF, investors could soon gain exposure to $INJ through traditional brokers and banking rails, without needing to manage wallets or understand staking mechanics.
The yield-generating model of the ETF is expected to appeal to both retail and institutional investors. Similar staked crypto products, such as 21Sharesâ AINJ ETP in Europe, have already gained traction. The U.S. version could boost demand further, especially among yield-seeking capital.
Canary Injective ETF move arrives amid increasing efforts to legitimize altcoin exposure through regulated vehicles. With Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs paving the way, the staked Injective ETF pushes boundaries by introducing staking yield into the ETF structure. Analysts believe this could lead to a new generation of ETFs tailored to top-performing altcoins.
The timing is also critical. Regulatory frameworks like the CLARITY Act, aimed at defining token classifications, are gaining momentum. These developments create a more stable environment for innovative ETF products â and Injective stands to benefit from being among the first movers. As more asset managers eye Solana, Sui, Ripple for similar products, a new narrative is forming: altcoin ETFs may be the next frontier.
For the broader altcoin market, this development underscores a maturing landscape where regulated investment vehicles are bridging traditional finance and crypto. If approved, the ETF could pave the way for more altcoin-focused funds, potentially fueling an âaltcoin summerâ as predicted by analysts, with increased liquidity and institutional capital driving growth
