Steady attention without excessive speculation.
4th February 2026- The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) has announced plans to expand its crypto derivatives lineup in 2026 by introducing price indices and cash-settled futures contracts for Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), and Tron (TRX). This marks MOEX’s push beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum into major altcoins, offering regulated exposure for qualified investors inside Russia through Moscow Exchange crypto futures.
According to MOEX derivatives chief Maria Silkina, the rollout will begin with indices tracking each asset’s price dynamics, and then MOEX will follow with ruble-settled futures contracts. The exchange is also considering perpetual futures and options as a future extension of the crypto product suite.

MOEX’s decision comes as Russia continues integrating digital assets into parts of its financial system. Since international sanctions intensified in 2022, Russia has increasingly looked toward crypto-linked infrastructure for financial flexibility, particularly in cross-border contexts where access to traditional networks has become more restricted.
In addition, MOEX already has experience building crypto derivatives markets. The exchange launched cash-settled Bitcoin futures in June 2025, followed by Ethereum futures in August 2025. MOEX moved forward after Russia’s central bank allowed crypto-linked securities and derivatives for qualified investors in May 2025.
Moreover, the market response to MOEX’s earlier BTC and ETH launches generally remained constructive. Those products supported higher trading volumes on MOEX and improved confidence among investors who prefer regulated exposure rather than offshore platforms. Globally, the launches did not move international crypto prices significantly, mainly because Russia remains geopolitically isolated.
MOEX introducing SOL, XRP, and TRX futures could reshape how institutional capital in Russia interacts with altcoins. First, regulated futures typically make it easier for investors to gain exposure, hedge risk, and deploy larger capital allocations. As a result, this development could increase liquidity for these assets through indirect institutional demand and stronger market participation.
For each asset, the significance differs. For Solana, MOEX listing SOL-linked futures can strengthen Solana’s reputation as a high-throughput smart contract network with rising institutional relevance, especially in DeFi and high-frequency trading narratives.
XRP remains heavily linked to cross-border payment and settlement use cases. Therefore, regulated derivatives exposure to XRP inside Russia could support broader interest in XRP-related infrastructure in sanction-pressured regions.
Tron (TRX): Tron maintains a strong footprint in stablecoin transfer activity and retail usage. Consequently, TRX futures exposure could expand demand from traders and institutions seeking regulated access to high-liquidity altcoin ecosystems.
Relative positioning against past updates or peers
Looking forward, MOEX has indicated it may expand further into perpetual futures and options tied to its crypto indices. If MOEX launches perpetual products later, it would bring a format widely popular on major global exchanges into a regulated exchange environment, while still using ruble settlement.
However, the long-term success of these offerings will depend on several factors. MOEX will need sustained qualified investor demand, regulatory continuity, and sufficient market depth to support active trading. In addition, geopolitical risk and capital controls will likely remain major variables shaping participation.
