World Liberty Financial plans a $1.5B Nasdaq-listed treasury company to hold WLFI tokens, following MicroStrategy’s crypto reserve model.

August 9, 2025 — World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture backed by the Trump family, is considering launching a publicly traded Nasdaq-listed treasury company to hold WLFI tokens, with a fundraising target of about $1.5 billion.
The move could position the firm alongside leading public companies that manage large-scale crypto reserves.
World Liberty Financial’s potential treasury vehicle would function similarly to established crypto-holding companies. According to Bloomberg, discussions with investors are advancing quickly. The firm has already identified a Nasdaq-listed shell company for acquisition, a structure that aligns with models pioneered by MicroStrategy now rebranded as Strategy.
Since its transformation into a Bitcoin-holding firm in 2020, Strategy has accumulated over $72 billion in BTC and achieved a market cap nearing $113 billion. The stock’s performance as a Bitcoin proxy has inspired multiple companies to adopt similar treasury-based approaches.
Publicly traded crypto treasuries have become a growing trend, raising an estimated $79 billion for Bitcoin purchases in 2025 alone. This wave includes entities holding Ethereum, Litecoin, , and other altcoins. Media, another Trump-linked venture, made headlines earlier this year after purchasing $2 billion in Bitcoin for its treasury.
In June 2025, Trump’s public financial disclosure revealed $57.4 million in income from WLFI token sales, stemming from his stake of 15.75 billion WLFI governance tokens. The tokens were sold across two public offerings, helping World Liberty Financial raise approximately $550 million.
The project’s investor list includes Tron founder Justin Sun, who acquired 2 billion WLFI tokens for $30 million, and Web3Port, which invested $10 million in January. With its DeFi lending app and USD1 stablecoin already in place, World Liberty Financial is positioning itself as a challenger to traditional banking systems through blockchain-powered financial products.
